Dexis DEXcam 4 Intra-oral Camera
Using real-time intra-oral video and pictures when communicating with patients creates immediate visual impact and can aid in their understanding of your clinical findings and treatment recommendations.
Historical images of an area captured over time can help tell a story of improvement or decline. This educational support makes an intra-oral video camera essential to your practice.
The DEXcam 4 dental oral camera¹ is an ideal addition to your imaging toolkit. It is exceptionally easy to use and delivers excellent quality, tooth decay pictures – all at an attractive price point.
Thoughtfully Designed for Usability
The DEXcam 4 intra-oral video camera feels solid and balanced in your hand. The anodized aluminum housing has a high quality, professional aesthetic and adds a degree of durability.
Capture control is directly on the handpiece of this digital intraoral camera. The capture buttons are membrane switches that are highly sensitive and easy to trigger. This aids image clarity as camera movement is less likely.
Capture buttons on both sides make using it effortless for both right- and left-handers.
Freezing the image is done with a single press; saving the image into the patient record is done instantly with a simple press-and-hold.
At the camera end of the cable, a reliable, industrial-grade connector offers quick-disconnect/reconnect functionality. By placing a holder and cable in each operatory,² the camera can be moved conveniently from room to room without disturbing computer ports that may be hidden.
Ideal Images for Show-and-Tell
A long depth of field allows you to move closer to a tooth or away from it while the image remains in focus.
This dental imaging equipment has a camera with a tip that accommodates an extra wide aperture that is highly receptive to the illumination from its intensely bright, state-of-the art LEDs.
The intraoral digital camera has been optimized to help ensure images are displayed in natural color tones; and precision-ground glass optics help prevent any image distortion.
A Sony® CCD sensor delivers the highest resolution among the major standard-definition cameras.³ Its 520,000-pixel images are clear and sharp.
Contoured sheaths are custom-made to fit the DEXcam 4. This contributes to image integrity by eliminating the irregularities caused by wrinkled plastic that may occur when using generic barriers.

Dexis CariVu Caries Detection Device
DEXIS CariVu™ is a compact, portable caries detection device that uses patented transillumination technology to support the identification of occlusal, interproximal and recurrent carious lesions and cracks.
CariVu continues in the long DEXIS tradition of providing intuitive, easy-to-use diagnostic tools for the dental community.By hugging the tooth and bathing it in safe, near-infrared light, CariVu’s transillumination technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb the light. This unique caries detector allows the clinician to see through the tooth exposing its structure and the actual structure of any carious lesions with very high accuracy.
Similar in appearance, DEXIS CariVu images read like familiar X-ray images — lesions will appear as dark areas. This provides an edge over fluorescent imaging technologies in that there is no need to clean the tooth of bacteria, calibrate the device or become versed in the meaning of multiple color codes or numeric indicators.Think of the DEXIS digital X-ray sensor and CariVu as ultimate companion tools for caries detection.
If you identify a suspicious area on a radiograph — especially possible interproximal decay which can be more difficult to detect — your “second opinion” can be a transilluminated image that reveals the extent of the condition and helps you confidently determine whether it needs monitoring over time or requires immediate treatment.
Since transillumination can show lesions in the beginning stages, using CariVu during routine prophylaxis can aid the hygienist in identifying questionable areas early on and decide on a course of preventive care.
When used together, a radiograph, a transilluminated image and an intra-oral photo provide a comprehensive picture of the health of a patient’s tooth.

DEXIS Platinum Sensor
The Platinum sensor lies at the heart of the DEXIS system.
This “plug-n-ray” solution features:
PerfectSize™ Sensor—One Size Fits All
TrueComfort™ Design
WiseAngle™ Cable Exit
PureImage™ Technology
ScatterGuard™ Protection
Direct USB Connectivity
Custom-fit Holders
Remarkable Image Quality
The ability to see subtleties using digital radiography is crucial to diagnosis, collaboration, and patient communication. Through a combination of advanced hardware and software technologies, the DEXIS Platinum sensor is able to deliver clinically meaningful images that are extremely clear and highly detailed.
Quantum Efficiency
Fancy words, simple concept: DEXIS hardware and software work in harmony to compensate for radiation variances thus guarding against under and over exposure. That means you are able to get more clinically useable, more consistent images at a wider range of exposure settings. You benefit from a reduction in the number of exposure-related dental x-ray retakes, and your patients benefit from the reduction in radiation.
DEXIS Images — By the Numbers
20+ lp-mm
The Platinum Sensor is a digital xray unit that produces more than 20 visible line pairs/mm for crisp, clear radiographs.
16,000 shades of gray are generated by a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter allowing subtle variations in densities to be seen.
The 2.2 megapixel images can be displayed at ultra-large sizes to 1,692 x 1,324 px. Zoom in without pixelation or loss of quality.
ClearVu™, DEXIS acclaimed image enhancement tool, uses advanced algorithms to further define the image and reveal additional detail and depth.
The Platinum Sensor’s ergonomic geometry and its PerfectSize™ dimensions help make it easy to position and comfortable for both adults and children.
